# Array

An array is a **data structure** that is an ordered sequence of values. Arrays in Cheddar are dynamic and can have the values of any class.

Due to the fact arrays are dynamic, their length is not fixed. This means an element can be inserted at any arbitrary point within the array.

Empty elements are automatically filled with `nil`.

Arrays are delimited with square brackets (`[` and `]`). Elements are expressions and are separated by commas.

```c
 [1, 2, 3, 4]
 [1,, 3] // [1, nil, 3]
 [1, "2", "3", 4, "5", 6]
```

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.cheddar.vihan.org/docs/literals/array.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
